The Alan Super Record is an Aluminum Lugged frame set. Alan didn't rely on welding or brazing, the tubes were screwed and glued into the lugs, as a result, the Alan was lighter than the steel frames. At the same time the component bike manufacturers were saving weight by drilling holes. Zeus, a manufacturer from Spain drilled many precise holes through the components making their appearance very light and very beautiful.
I purchased this 1983 Alan Super Record road bike from the original owner six months after he purchased it. My friend was into criterion racing and purchased a different bike and sold me the Alan. At the time I was living in rural Illinois and the sew up tires were great on the two lane blacktop roads. I never raced it, but did many long distance rides. Many of the original parts are still on the bike. The bike shop that cleaned and set the bike up removed the old sew up tires, they held air but were dangerous to ride on because they were too old. Most of the bikes from this era are in Europe, making this bike a rare find.
