Decorative species. Used as a potted plant.
Can be grown in bonsai style or as a shredded tree.
Leaves contain essential oils and tannins. Eucalyptus oil is rich in cineol. Pure cineole is used in medicine under the name Eucalyptol.
It is a powerful antiseptic, stronger than carbolic acid. Cineol in the form of fumes destroys the causative agents of dysentery, streptococci, staphylococcus, typhoid bacillus, repels mosquitoes and mosquitoes.
