This is a genuine earth mined solid Australian Lightning Ridge Opal ring.
• I'm really excited to be able to offer a genuine solid Opal ring. Lightning Ridge in Australia is very well known as producing some of the most incredible opals in the world. I was so lucky to be able to purchase this amazing opal when it's such a nice size too.

It is also a completely solid opal, not a doublet or triplet. It's a very nice size at 1.22 carats and 8mm x 10mm in size. Opal also always looks much better in person than it does in photos because you can see it from all angles.

This particular Opal is an opaque black opal with flashes of bright green and blue colour play. It has nice bold colour that looks far more impressive in real life.

This pretty opal has been cut and carefully polished into an oval cabochon. There are many little pave' cubic zirconia which accent this gorgeous solid opal ring.
• This ring is made of genuine 925 hallmarked solid sterling silver with a rhodium plating which prevents tarnishing and maximises shine and is a size 7 US. It's a beautiful lightweight ring, absolutely gorgeous.

OPAL

It also brings lightness and spontaneity. The stone is said to help stimulate originality and dynamic creativity, encourages an interest in the arts, and aids in accessing one’s true self.
Because the stone is absorbent and reflective, it helps you to pick up thoughts and feelings, amplify them, and return them to their source.
It is a karmic stone- it encourages putting out positive emotions and teaches that what you put out comes back to you. The opal is also a representative of justice and harmony, and is a protective stone in dangerous places.
Opal has always been associated with love and passion, as well as desire and eroticism. It is a seductive stone that intensifies emotional states and releases inhibitions. It can also act as an emotional stabilizer. Wearing an opal is said to bring about loyalty and faithfulness.
Clear crystal
opal displaying full colour variations (ROYGBIV) and good transparency is the best grade of opal. This type becomes more valuable depending on the nature of the pattern. Harlequin is considered to be the most beautiful and most valuable. Occasionally valuable black opal is found on the field but this is a rare occurrence. Best quality opal jewellery can sell for many thousands of dollars.
Crystal opal has a wide variation of colour combinations ranging from less valuable vibrant blue violets and blue greens, to the next level of value containing golds, oranges and pinks, progressing to others of greater value which include distinct reds and a full range of colour.
Many customers purchasing opal jewellery have a preference for the less valuable blue green variety demonstrating that value is in the eye of the beholder. So with so many colour combinations to choose from there is something to suit most tastes and pockets.
Jelly opal
is highly translucent with flashes of colour play which are best seen against a dark background. For this reason jelly opal is often set with a black backing to bring out the elusive colours, but sometimes they are set without backing so that the colour plays are teased out of the environment around them. There are mixed opinions on the value of jelly opal.
Milky or what is sometimes called ‘white’ opal
may contain the same colour combinations in varying degrees as seen in crystal opal, but the base-rock is milky white, which in itself varies in density. The greater the density of white and the less colours present, the less valuable the stone. However some opal jewellery customers prefer the milky variety to the crystal.
Matrix or Boulder Opal
is formed from sedimentary rock. Andamooka matrix (pronounced matrix) is a unique brown sedimentary rock. Best quality matrix contains myriads of tiny deposits of gem opal and can be cut, polished then treated to produce an attractive and sought after stone that reflects the rainbow colours of crystal opal in a dense black to earthy brown base-rock. Matrix is often used to make attractive jewellery or for items such as desk ornaments.
Potch or common opal
has no play of colour within the stone. Potch can present as clear with a weak single colour ranging from violet blue to yellow or in some cases green, or it may be opaque varying from black to milky white.
OPAL DOUBLETS AND TRIPLETS:
What is the difference between doublets, triplets, and solid opals? What happens when doublets or triplets get wet? How should I care for a doublet or triplet?
One of the most basic things you should familiarise yourself with when expanding your education on opal are those partially man made stones known as doublets and triplets.
In summary, these stones are slices of opal glued to a black backing, designed to imitate the appearance of a solid black opal.
Adhering the slice of opal to a black backing causes the colour to become much darker and more vibrant. However doublets and triplets are generally much cheaper than solid black Opals as they only contain a small amount of genuine opal.
Please note: There is a lot of confusion regarding the care of opals because of the different caring instructions for solid opals as opposed to doublets / triplets. Solid opals are fine in water - it's only doublets and triplets which need to be kept out of water to avoid water penetration.
Cleaning - Doublets & triplets may be wiped with a damp soft cloth and mild detergent, but should never be soaked or immersed. Avoid bleach, chemicals, cleaners, and ultrasonic cleaners.

Everything I make is hypoallergenic too - I use genuine 92.5% sterling silver, surgical stainless steel, or a UV protective coating so that even people with metal allergies or sensitive skin like myself can wear them also.

or Express postage options. I am only able to keep my prices so low by sending items using standard post without tracking included. Choosing Registered or Express post includes tracking and ensures that you have peace of mind.

Some of the photos are only sample shots of a particular item as I sometimes have more than one in stock, so the photos are indications of what it looks like. Because I'm using natural gemstones there will always be differences in the gems, as each one is unique. If you would like to see a picture of the specific item that you're bidding on just send me a message.
I try very hard to colour match stones used to make earrings but because I am using genuine natural stones there maybe some differences in shade in the gemstones used.
Many of the natural gemstones that I sell will have inclusions in them which I personally really like to see.
Even with today's technology inclusions are actually not able to be faked so I tend to regard them as being just as good as an authenticity certificate!
