Phil Collins percussionist and clinician Richie Gajate-Garcia turned to LP for his new line of roadworthy, eye-catching congas. Each conga in the Richie Gajate-Garcia Signature Series is built from Romanian tilia wood (basswood) with a fiberglass core for added strength. Tilia is about 20% lighter than oak, and its deep tone and earthy look are perfect for the stage. Sweetwater reviewers felt the decorative lathed bands added a nice visual touch - an homage to the steel bands of staved congas. We also appreciated the rawhide head and patented Top-Tuning system, which promises to be much simpler than traditional congas for tuning up on the fly.
