    Description

    Offered is a unique Native First Nation Canadian Cree-made Birch Bark Box with root decorations, similar to the porcupine quillwork done by the Anishinaabe tribes, but done with dyed roots inside.
    This box came from Pelican Narrows, Saskatchwen, where this particular style is found. It is unsigned but it is attributed to the Custer family, who are known for these beautiful baskets.
    This piece measures 5 1/2" by 4 1/2". It is lined with a filmy net material. Fine condition.

    * Most of the items we sell come from our personal collection gathered over the years from our travels, from Native powwows and craft stores, antique shops, auctions and estate sales. Now that our kids are in college and beyond, we are letting some items go so others can enjoy them.

    I will mail first class to Canada but to all other locations, I prefer to mail priority to insure your item arrives safely. Please email me with questions. Sorry for the expense, but  I've had items lost overseas when mailing first class and don't want to take the risk of losing items.
    *I pack carefully and try to reuse materials to save on environmental impact. I often double-box items with smaller gift boxes collected from various thrift stores. Though I don't like styrofoam peanuts for environmental reasons, I have found they are the best at protecting fragile  items against damage during shipping. I reuse all that I receive and hope you will make use of the ones that come in your packages. Thank you.
