Gorgeous little gem!!!!One of a kind !
BEE MASK, Indigenous Miniature art carving - hand carved and inlaid by master artist Silas Coon from the Kwakiulth First Nation.
The details on this little bee is truly incredible, Superb Quality. It's just as much, if not more work than a regular size mask. Silas pays so much attention to details and spend so many hours on his carvings, they truly are close to perfection! Silas is specialized in the carving of Tribal miniatures. He was part of an exhibition of small carvings on Vancouver Island, where his carvings were presented together with carvings by Luke Marston, Valerie Morgan, Kevin Cranmer, Shawn Karpes and just a handful more. A very elite group of artists who's Tribal miniatures in wood are so highly desired, admired and collected all over the world.

Silas Coon is a member of the Kwakwakaw 'wakw (Kwakiulth) First Nations
, originating from
Alert
Bay
in their ancestral land. He was born in 1963. When he was 11 years old, he moved to
Gilford
Island
where Jim King, a chief who presided at the potlatch, carved a dilapidated school house. From that moment on he knew he wanted to carve.
Silas later learned techniques and skills of carving from George Hunt Jr.. He also worked closely with his cousin Beau Dick, a worldwide known artist, for over 15 years starting in the late 80's
. Silas was trained by the best and clearly follows their steps.
