    Description

For sale is a pair of  authentic Northwest Coast coppers.
Historically, metals were very scarce in NWC societies and thus were highly regarded and copper was the first metal to be traded in NWC culture.
As such coppers are the most important symbol of wealth, power, status and prestige. These are shield-shaped and made of beaten copper sometimes with symbols.
This pair is adorned with abalone shell for eyes and a mouth on each one.
These coppers were likely given out at a potlatch ceremony.
One is approx. 10 X 5  1/4" and the other is 7 X 9  inches and in very good condition (for beaten old copper).
I have been selling authentic native art on ebay since 1999 so buy with confidence.
