    This is a fantastic 1950s
    Ellen Neel Northwest Coast Totem Pole!
    By Ellen Neel.
    Kwakiutl / Kwakwaka'wakw.
    Ellen Neel (1916-1966) was perhaps the most famous female Northwest Coast carver.
    From Alert Bay, British Columbia, Canada.
    Her work is very well-known.
    This is an amazing piece of First Nations Art.
    The Totem Pole is beautifully carved with a Thunderbird and Bear.
    Beautifully Carved and Hand Painted.
    Looking at the pole, you can imagine Ellen Neel painting it.
    Excellent Quality.
    The back is signed and dated "Ellen Neel 1958".
    A fantastic vintage Northwest Coast First Nations Totem Pole!
    Height
    : 11 inches (28 cm)
    Wingspan
    : about 10 3/8 inches (just over 26 cm)
    The wings are firmly nailed on / attached.
    The Back of the Thunderbird's head feather is chipped / damaged on one side (see photos).
    The Base is missing (there is a hole in the bottom of the totem pole that would have attached to the base).
    Minor overall wear to the paint from age and handling over the years (see photos).
    It displays beautifully.
    Otherwise, it is in Very Good Condition
