Vintage 1970s Urago France Reynolds 531 56cm Simplex Stronglight Ideale Bike

Ultra-Rare, Vintage-1970’s Urago (made in Nice, France) racing bicycle, in great condition. Electric Blue color on a 56cm (seattube t-c) frame. French Reynolds 531 tubing (Garantí Construit Avec Reynolds 531) forks and stays, Professional lugs, and Simplex dropouts with chromed fork crown and chrome fork ends. Gents model, 10-speed racing bike. As this bike is essentially 40+ years old, all original wear and tear items have been replaced. Examples would be all bearings, retainer rings, and grease points on the hubs, bottom bracket, and headset.
It has matching front and rear 700c Super Champion (made in France) tubular alloy wheels with matching polished hi-flange Excelto Super Competition hubs on the front and rear. It also has matching polished M.M.Atom France skewers. All spokes are present and in decent shape. It has brand new Challenge 700x25c Elite Pro Series Tubular 220TPI PPS 105PSI 5-7 BAR tires.
It has a Belleri France 42cm handlebar and an BELRI “Record Strada Style” 95mm alloy stem with Stronglight France chrome headset. Mafac France “Racer” center-pull brake calipers and Mafac France “Racer” polished brake levers with newer Rustines gum brake hoods (made in France). Right hood has some signs of shelf wear but is fine. It has brand new Jagwire CGX-SL black brake housings with Jagwire Road Pro Slick polished brake cables. It has brand new Velox Tressorex 85 Black cotton tape with chrome plated bar plugs.
It has a Stronglight 93 France 144BCD alloy 170mm crankset with 42/52T Stronglight France rings, Stronglight France crank bolts, and original Stronglight France dust caps. Complete Stronglight France bottom bracket assembly. Lyotard France quill Pedals in great condition with original Christophe AFA France medium/large polished alloy toe clips and brand new NOS AFA France “Lapize” black leather straps with silver print.
Original Ideale France TB 80 Type Record black leather saddle which also has the original Ideale France saddle clamp which is stamped "made in France”. The seatpost is the original 27.2mm chrome seatpost and it has the original Mafac France Despose seat binder bolt.
Original Sedis France 1/2”x3/32” chain. The freewheel is the original Atom Maillard France 5-speed with 13-17T cogs. I just completely stripped the freewheel down, cleaned, polished all the cogs and re-lubed the body. The front derailleur is a full-working Simplex France Criterium derailleur and the rear is also a full-working Simplex France Criterium derailleur. Front derailleur has a small crack on the housing but derailleur still shifts both front cog cycles just fine. Rear derailleur was completely taken apart, cleaned, polished, and greased including the jockey wheels. Jockey wheels have been upgraded to Simplex SLJs. Equipped with brand new Jagwire LEX-SL black shift housings and Jagwire Road Pro Slick polished shift cables. All controlled by the original Simplex France Criterium downtube shift levers.
The bike runs smooth as butter and shifts without a glitch as all cables and housings were just replaced, hubs have been overhauled, and the chain has been run thru the cleaner three times and re-lubed. The paint is 6/10 with signs of light chain slap and paint nics on various parts of the frame and fork. Decals are probably a 6/10 as far as condition goes, although they are all present and visible. That’s just my honest opinion, I’m being as critical as possible. However, there are no dings or dents on the frame or forks, it has been well taken care of in that respect. I obtained this bike from a man who immigrated to the US back in the 70’s and brought this with from Nice, France, who was the original owner. He said everything on it was original. Other than that, I have zero information on this Urago. I’ve only seen two other Urago bikes for sale in the last five years and neither of which had the Reynolds steel or these components.
This bike has been fully stripped down, properly washed, polished, and reassembled including all components as seen.
