    Description

This preowned Eskimo looks like it would be a woman and handmade but not sure what year Annie Niviaxie lived 1930 to 1989 so I am not sure what year this item was created but it looks like 1980.  (If you can read the on the bottom of her foot and figure out the year, please let me know).  The arms and hands come across the front and the parka covers the head and extends down in the back.  She stands on her two feet which has the carving of the date and who carved it but I could not read their numbers and letters to tell.  See the pictures.  I tried to figure it out with no result.  Someone was kind enough to tell me the artist was probably Annie Niviaxie born in Inukjuaki and I researched that this would have been be the artist.
It measures a little over 7-1/2" tall and around 3-1/2" at widest point and 2" thick.  It is heavy and weighs around 2 pounds.
It is a darker green color as in the pictures and I believe it may be made of serpentine soapstone.  It does not scratch and has a cool feeling when you hold it.
If you know of any information you may have I would greatly appreciate it.
    It is a wonderful piece.
