Disturbing footage of the brutal act surfaced online, quickly going viral and igniting strong criticism from animal rights groups and others. Many are demanding harsher penalties for such extreme cruelty, with some advocating for stronger legal protection for animals in India.
“Pappu was enraged because the dog had bitten his daughter,” said a local police officer from the City Kotwali police station. “He sought revenge in the most barbaric way possible.” The dog had reportedly attacked Pappu’s daughter days before the incident, leading to the violent retaliation.
